Following the discovery of a security loophole affecting the Linux kernel (CVE-2013-2094), we have temporarily set up a workaround to reduce the impact.
However, an OpenVZ kernel update onto version 042stab076.8 is necessary to secure the infrastructure permanently. We will be updating all vHost kernels between 00:00 Monday May 20th and Tuesday May 21st 2013.
The maintenance consists of updating the kernel and rebooting the vHost on the newly installed kernel. This will cause a service interruption of 10-15 minutes maximum (for the most highly loaded vHosts).
This update will affect VPS 2013 Classic as well as VKS.
Update(s):
Date: 2013-05-21 04:22:23 UTC Ifrastructures are updated.
Date: 2013-05-21 04:19:47 UTC 50% of the VKS ifrastructure is updated.
70% of VPS2013 ifrastructure is updated.
Date: 2013-05-21 04:18:51 UTC We are gradually rebooting vhosts, service cut-off between 10 and 15 minutes maximum by VPS is expected.
Reboot robots will be off during this time. All tasks will be canceled at the end of the amintenance in order to avoid unnecessary cut-off of the servers.
Date: 2013-05-21 04:15:16 UTC We are preparing the vhosts for the update. We are downloading and configuring the new packets before rebooting the servers.
Date: 2013-05-21 04:14:22 UTC We will start the maintenance soon.
