In order to improve general performance we are currently updating software versions used in multiple rescue-modes. This affects the rescue mode used on dedicated servers, as well as re-installation systems.
There should be no noticeable impact for customer servers during the transition.
Update(s):
Date: 2013-02-14 00:42:59 UTC The rollout is complete.
The rescue systems are now based on the upcoming Debian version (7, codename \"Wheezy\") and bring amongst others the following improvements:
- Latest versions of system utilities and data recovery utils
- vmfs-tools: In allows mounting (read-only) of VMware ESXi 5.x datastores
- debootstrap: latest version allows manual installation of all currently existing Debian and Ubuntu-versions
The installation system is based on the same rescue systems and has amongst others the following improvements:
- newer version of parted which provides better alignment of partitions (for better performance)
- newest stable filesystem creation tools (for example for btrfs)
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you encounter any issues or see the need for additional utils.
