FS#6505 — Moving from T3 to T2
Incident Report for Network & Infrastructure
Resolved
The end of the winter was very smooth this year.
We had a beautiful spring day temperature (over 20 ° C) at Beauharnois in Quebec today.
The temperature decreased in the early evening. The result: a porcelain of 120 000V burst on the South arrival and transformer T3 couldn't be supplied anymore. We switched the power supply of the DC on T2 which is supplied by the North arrival 120 000V.

The operation was manually performed on 01:15 am by our teams.

In a few months this kind of switching will be done automatically thanks to the worktask we started on the very high voltage.
To recap: we have two electrical arrivals by the Hydro Quebec of 120 000V that provide 120MVA of power supply. These two arrivals supply two large transformers of 120MVA each transforming the voltage from 120000V to 13800V.
Worktasks aim to construct a system that provides always, no matter what happens, the voltage at 13800V. Also, we are replacing several other pieces then changing the transformers connection , checking 120kV circuit breakers etc etc..

Only at the end of this worktask we will state the DC \"stable\". And meanwhile we will perform the \"alpha\" and \"beta\" tests knowing that the \"stable\" version is scheduled for late July 2012 namely in 4-5 months.
