FS#17860 — Network Madrid,ES (Telefonica, Espanix)
Incident Report for Network & Infrastructure
Resolved
Over the past few days we have been hit by large-scale DDoS attacks from Spain.

We have four private peers with Telefonica, the national broadband and telecommunications provider in Spain:
- Madrid 30G
- Paris 40G
- Ashburn,VA 20G
- Miami,FL 20G

Despite this capacity, our connection is saturated in Paris, where the DDoS attack is about 50 G whereas we only have a 40 G capacity.

We have stopped the BGP accouncements to Telefonica and the traffic has therefore been redirected. It is now arriving via Telefonica/Seabone/Ovh. We have several 100 G links in Europe and the US with Seabone and so the situation should return to normal (unless the peer between Telefonica and Seabone is saturated).

Update(s):

Date: 2016-05-05 09:29:42 UTC
We are experiencing the same problem with all the traddic coming from Espanix, where we have a 30G capacity. We are stopping the announcements going to Espanix.

The traffic is coming to us via other peering or transit links where we have more capacity.
