Since three months we are preparing the establishment of the network's new infrastructure on P19 for the shared hosting. The objective is to pass on the 10G network and avoid all the problems of congestion and that of quality caused by development. The current infrastructure has 6 years. It is time to establish a new for ... 6 years ? :)
Update(s):
Date: 2010-08-20 13:24:01 UTC We have performed new switches this night.
And even more this Friday night to Saturday.
The network failures should be short enough
in order not to be deteted at all.
Date: 2010-06-10 06:14:17 UTC It's done.
We could continue switching of nearly 10000 shared hosting servers towards the new shred network.
Here is the scheme.
Date: 2010-06-10 06:10:48 UTC We will switch the principal vplan of the shared hosting from 6k to N5. We aim to put the new infra into the switching core of the shared network.
A few seconds of disconnection is expected.
Date: 2010-05-26 12:56:50 UTC We will physically move one of the 2 N5 in order to recable it
in a new bay.
1 packet lost... The N5 cluster in vPC (virtual port channel)
functions correctly in MTU 1500.
Date: 2010-05-26 09:09:57 UTC The migration continues leisurely switch by switch.
In all, we have to switch the network of about 10000
servers on this new infra. The intervetions
will take several weeks.
